About the Group
The group is based in the School of Design at the University of Leeds. We focus on sustainable methods to design new materials such as dyes and pigments. We are particularly interested in ‘functional dyes’ which are capable of more than just colouration. Such dyes have found uses in organic light emitting materials, NIR light filters, antimicrobial agents and photocatalytic materials.
We also interested in purification strategies for water through novel adsorbents and photocatalytic remediation.
'There is nothing new except what has been forgotten' - we are interested in heritage science and how learning from the past can inform materials development of the future.
