Dr Natalia N Sergeeva

I joined the University of Leeds in 2013 as a Lecturer in the School of Chemistry and currently I am Associate Professor in the School of Design.

I was born in St-Petersburg, Russia, where I have completed my UG studies at the St-Petersburg State University. After that I joined the group of Prof Klaus Burger at the University of Leipzig (Germany) and completed my PhD in fluorine organic chemistry. Prior to Leeds, I undertook a PostDoc appointment at the University of Potsdam and a research fellowship at Trinity College Dublin, where I worked in the School of Chemistry and the Institute of Molecular Medicine at St-James's Hospital.

Our current research underpins applied photochemistry and include optical filters, antioxidants, photomedicine, organic nanomaterials, organic-inorganic interfaces, chemical reactions on surface, photo- and heterogeneous catalysts. And lately, we have also started working in the filed of heritage science and sustainability.

Current Members

Mansour Alsarrani

Mansour is a PhD student who joined the group in 2018 and is studying the development of three component photocatalytic systems. His research is currently focussed on graphene-titanium dioxide-dye photocatalytic nanomaterials.

Maha Alenezi

Maha is a PhD researcher who joined the group in 2020. Her research project focuses on the fabrication of novel titanium dioxide composites bearing organic inclusions for use in photocatalysis.

Shorog Mohammad Al Otaiby

Shorog is a PhD researcher who joined the group in 2020. Her research project focuses on the phytochemistry of bioactive photosynthetic pigments from the plant sources. She develops novel and sustainable extraction methods from the abundant plant based materials.

Kanako Kimura

Kanako joined the group in September 2021. Her work focuses on the design and fabrication of photoprotective materials for skin.
